Help for international students

Moving to a foreign country to study can be challenging. Find resources and services to help you settle in to life and learning at UQ.

Whether you’re joining us at UQ’s Gatton or St Lucia campuses, or both, you’ll find information here to support you from when you arrive until it’s time to say goodbye.

    UQ campuses

You’re likely to study at one or both of UQ’s St Lucia and Gatton campuses.

UQ St Lucia is seven kilometres from Brisbane’s city centre, and UQ Gatton is just over an hour away from the city.

Find out more about our campuses, including how to get to Gatton or St Lucia, and information about facilities, services and campus tours at each location.

Detailed information about UQ Gatton is also available on the Gatton Campus website.

    Residential schools

Several courses within our external programs have compulsory residential school components.

Our practical residential schools are held on campus, usually at UQ Gatton.

They’re held over a single day, or for up to six days, during semester breaks in March/April and September/October.

    Residential school timetable

Each semester the residential timetable will be available on Allocate+.

After you enrol, you can access your timetable at my.UQ dashboard (requires login).

When planning your enrolment, always follow the recommended schedules set out in our Science Study Planners to avoid clashes with the residential school timetable. Check your timetable once you’re enrolled in the course to ensure you don’t have a timetable clash.

    Accommodation

    Limited on-campus accommodation is available.

To organise accommodation, visit the UQ Res Life Gatton campus Halls of Residence web pages.
