Pathogens cause billions of dollars in losses each year and affect all crops used for human food production. We'll study the molecular mechanisms used by plants in defence against pathogens, and devise strategies to produce resistant plants using genetic transformation technologies. The projects involve cloning, molecular characterisation of genes and study of a number of transgenic lines with increased disease resistance.

Location: St Lucia
