Berry waste as foundation for next-generation fertilisers and soil ameliorants
Duration:
February 2019–November 2019
This projects tests the concept that berries that are of insufficient quality for the consumer market, can be a source of fertiliser nutrients and soil ameliorants for agriculture. Advancing a circular nutrient economy in berry farming, where wastes feed the next berry crop, the student will carry out growth experiments in the glasshouse using berry wastes that have undergone different treatments. The student will be co-supervised by plant nutrition experts and waste recycling engineers.
